Jaxson

The treasurer for Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter, Linda Green, was visiting her daughter in North Carolina over the Christmas holidays. Her daughter was scheduled to give birth and Linda was around to help in any way she can. However, she did not plan she would be helping more than just her family.

Jaxson is a Persian who Linda found roaming the streets of North Carolina. She had met him initially at a stop sign while driving. Jaxson ran under her car and forced Linda to exit the vehicle and try coaxing him back to the curb. Not having much success in getting Jaxson to stay at the curb, Linda brought him to her daughter’s home. Speaking to residents in the area, Linda found out that Jaxson has been running stray in the streets for quite a while. Some residents mentioned that Jaxson has been going door to door crying to be let in and also standing at the middle of the road, between the yellow median lines. Some residents also spotted others abusing him with BB guns and letting dogs chase him away. North Carolina did not have a no kill shelter and Linda refused to bring him to the humane society which only had a 2-day waiting period before euthanasia. Linda brought Jaxson to a local veterinarian and she was informed that Jaxson was not only emaciated but also suffered an aural hematoma (trauma to the ear). However, fortunately Jaxson tested negative for both FELV and  FIV, and is found to be both neutered and 2 ft declawed. Their first concern then was definitely to put some weight on the poor fella. After a 2 week stay with a loving neighbor (and gaining a pound),  Jaxson returned to Wisconsin with Linda. He stayed at Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter for 2 weeks (gained another pound!) and finally is here at Animal Hospital of South Milwaukee. His calloused paws tell the story of a rough outdoor life and his emotion-filled expression hints at a weary traveler’s experiences. He is currently treated for an ear infection that had developed from being outdoors for such a long time but otherwise is in a healthy condition. We are allowing him to settle in before running further diagnostic testing. Feel free to stop by and meet Jaxson, our newest addition!

Benny (ADOPTED!)

We opened our doors on May 24th, 2010 and was approached the very next day by Linda Green, treasurer to Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter, regarding Benny. Since then, we have had the privilege to be part of this wonderful cat’s life.

“Hello! My name is Benny and thanks to the nice people over at Happy Endings No Kill Animal Shelter I have a second chance at finding my forever home. Animal Hospital of South Milwaukee has been fostering me in the meantime and I sure am grateful! They’ve given me the run of the place and I sure do take my job seriously. You can usually find me in the office. I think it is my job to snuggle and chat with everyone! I’m just doing my part!  I’m a real lover and – oh –  I  LOVE to be brushed! I’m also really good with dogs. Not much bothers me. I’m a really laid back kind of guy. Oh, they tell me I have something called diabetes, but that it is mild and easily controlled. I need pills every day, and I take them like a real champ. Otherwise, I’m as healthy as a horse. I really can’t wait to find my forever home! Please contact AHOSM or Happy Endings about adopting me today!”

Animals on Staff

Tundra

Tundra belongs to Animal Hospital of South Milwaukee’s owner, Isaiah. She turned 4 years old this past June 25th but still behaves like she’s 4 months old. Being a Siberian Husky, running is a natural past time but so is sleeping. Often she is found around the hospital lazing around and always eager to meet new people and pets.

“Good day to everyone! My name is Tundra and I’m the resident attention hog. My favorite past time is playing chase with other dogs and feasting on treats. There’s a treat bowl in the lobby where I sometimes sneak a treat or two but I’ve been caught one too many times. I am teaching the new chap, Benny to be my lookout and he’s cool enough to help. In return, I usually let him share my spot on the couch. If you ever stop by, remember to say hello. And by all means, don’t hesitate to help me out by “dropping” the treat bowl in the lobby!”
